Are your prayers being anwsered?

Blocks to Prayer

Pride
“In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, and he answered him and gave him a sign. But Hezekiah did not respond according to the benefit done to him, for his heart was proud. Therefore wrath came upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem. Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah” II Chronicles 32:24

Lack of discipline
The end of all things is near, therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers. I Peter 4:7

Wrong Motives
Prayer as performance
Hypocritical and pious
“And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward” Matthew 6:5-6

“beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward fro your Father in heaven. Matthew 6:1

Broken Vows
Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven of earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes, and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. James 5:12

O Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill?…vs. 4 Those who stand by their oath even to their own hurt.
Psalm 15:1-4
